The new Freds at Barneys replaces the once-beloved Barney Greengrass — ironically, just as high-end delis are starting to have their moment on the food scene. Industry diners will now find an Italian-meets-California menu at Freds, which emphasizes fresh, healthy dishes like Mark’s Madison Avenue Salad, touted as the ultimate chopped salad; artisan pizzas and the actress-friendly vegan cashew “cheese” dip with raw vegetables. The view from the terrace remains terrific.
