Raytheon to Help Advance Sea Sparrow Missile Block 2 Program Under $77M Navy Contract


A Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) business unit has landed a $77 million contract to provide engineering services, test equipment, material and management support for the U.S. Navy‘s development activities for Block 2 Evolved Sea Sparrow Missiles.

Services under the contract will support the Block 2 ESSM program’s transition to low-rate production and fabrication, the Defense Department said Friday.

The missile’s development program involves international cooperation intending to produce, test and procure ESSM units for naval defense.

The Navy initially provided an obligated $61.5 million in fiscal 2018 funds for the award.

Raytheon Missile Systems will perform 61 percent of work in Arizona and the remaining percentage in California, Colorado and Massachusetts in the U.S., as well as in Australia, Germany, Netherlands and Norway through December 2020.

The Naval Sea Systems Command issued the sole-source contract.
