For 11 years now, the Under Armour all-America game has provided an outlet for the nation’s best girls’ and boys’ lacrosse players to test their skills against some of the best competition in the country. Over time, the Washington area has been well-represented and this year’s festivities, scheduled to begin June 30 at Towson University, should be no different. Two local players have already been named all-Americans during the first two waves of selections.

Gonzaga midfielder Avery Myers and Severna Park midfielder Eva Klaus were each chosen as Under Armour all-Americans last month, with both seniors in the midst of dominating final seasons on the field.

Klaus has been a force in the faceoff circle for the two-time defending Maryland 4A state champions, controlling games with her ability to win draws. The Johns Hopkins commit is also a two-way threat, capable of scoring goals in bunches and using her length to bother opposing attackers.

Myers has the Eagles on pace to capture their seventh straight Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championship after closing the regular season on a 10-game winning streak. Armed with a lethal shot and a diverse offensive skill set, he is tied for the team lead with 39 goals. He has scored at least one goal in every game facing a national schedule this spring. The Michigan recruit was named a preseason all-American by USA Today as well.

There will be two more waves of seniors selected for this year’s Under Armour all-America game in the coming weeks  and players will eventually be split into two teams — North and South. The actual game will take place on July 2.
