• Sharon S. Richardson Hospice — Oktoberfest Run volunteers: An Oktoberfest Run will be Saturday, Sept. 12, at River Park in Sheboygan Falls. Volunteers are needed to help direct traffic and assist runners along the course between Sheboygan Falls and Kohler between 9:15 and 11:15 a.m. Meet at 9:15 a.m. near the southern end of River Park at the foot bridge near PP. The actual race begins at 10 a.m. Parking will be available in the Bemis parking lot. All volunteers will receive T-shirts. Reflective vests will also be available for those who wish to wear them. Beverages will be available for all volunteers within River Park. All proceeds benefit the Sheboygan Falls Lion Club and The Kohler Police Athletic League. • Maywood Environmental Park — Earth Ride volunteers needed: Rest stop volunteers are needed for the Maywood Earth Ride Saturday, Sept. 19. This is a perfect team-building opportunity for any civic, social, service, school, scout, corporate, or church organization. Now in its 16th year, the Maywood Earth Ride is a fully supported bicycle event with six scenic routes through Sheboygan County. Rest stops provide food and refreshments for hundreds of cyclists throughout the day. Groups are sought to work at rest stops at Lakeland College, Sheboygan Marsh Tower, the Wade House, and the Ice Age Center. Responsibilities include picking up all rest stop materials on Friday afternoon, setting up the rest stop with provided materials and food, providing friendly and encouraging smiles to all participating riders, and returning supplies to Maywood after the event. Rest stop leaders must be adults 21 years or older, and are required to attend a pre-event training session. Teens and older children are welcome to help under adult supervision. Sharon S. Richardson Hospice — Overnight Patient Care (NODA) volunteers: Work directly with hospice patients in the last 24 hours of their life by providing a quiet, compassionate presence, companionship or respite to family members. Provide a comforting touch, a listening ear and a calming presence to a patient. Four-hour shifts between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. are most needed. Locations include the hospice center, patient homes and nursing homes/assisted living facilities. Volunteers must complete patient care training and orientation as well as a two-hour NODA (No One Dies Alone) orientation. Reference checks and background checks are required. 1907 Club — Recovery Rocks Planning Committee: 1907 Club is hosting an event Sept. 26 called Recovery Rocks — Coming Together to Fight Heroin dedicated to heroin awareness and treatment. Heroin is an epidemic killing more people than traffic accidents and devastates families. Join an exciting and engaging group planning this important event featuring as keynote speaker State Attorney General Brad Schimel.  Call 920-226-1415 or email Stanley.kaymen@att.net.

Pine Haven Christian Communities — outdoor watering volunteers: Volunteers are needed to help water the landscaped areas at the Haven Drive location. Watering will be done during the morning hours, and will take approximately three hours. Days will vary. Call 920-550-5226 or email dwalter@pinehaven.org.

RCS Empowers — garden carpentry volunteers: The RCS gardens are in need of assistance to construct outdoor projects. Assist gardening instructors on preparing DIY projects for garden structures, sensory decor and general improvements. Volunteers should possess proficient carpentry and woodworking knowledge. • Habitat for Humanity Lakeside — construction site builders: Habitat for Humanity Lakeside is seeking volunteers to help out on the construction site(s). SCIO — Bring Food to prepare a meal at Bridgeway: This is an opportunity for a group from one to five people to come and experience a day in the life at Bridgeway. Bring food to prepare a meal for 15-plus in the Bridgeway kitchen. Eat with the current residents at Bridgeway. Tour the facility and get to know more about what Bridgeway is and the single mothers and children worked with. Dinner is served daily at 5:30 p.m. (some exceptions exist).The kitchen is (mostly) fully furnished, including a range, two microwaves, two sinks, two dishwashers, and plenty of cutting boards and counter space. Mental Health America — There is Hope Walk volunteers: This year's There is Hope Walk is the 10th annual event for suicide awareness and prevention. The event includes a 2-, 3- or 4-mile walk from Deland Park on Sheboygan's scenic lakefront. Also included at the event is a brat/burger fry, raffles, silent auction items, children's crafts, music and chair massages. Proceeds from the event allow Mental Health America in Sheboygan County to continue suicide prevention work year-round throughout the county. Volunteers are needed to help with all aspects of this event: set-up, clean-up, bake sale, registration, craft area, etc. Call 920-458-3951.

Boys & Girls Club of Sheboygan County — Teen Center volunteer: The Boys & Girls Club of Sheboygan County is looking for a volunteer to assist in the Teen Club every Wednesday afternoon from 2:30 to 5 p.m. The volunteer would be responsible for assisting program staff with supervision of teens in a small, laid-back, fun environment. Must be comfortable interacting with teens and participating in group activities. The ideal candidate would be someone who likes to have fun, but is also not afraid to enforce rules and guidelines.
