When will it open? 5 chains coming to Hunterdon County

RARITAN TWP. -- With buildings, parking lots and signs slowly going up in Flemington and Raritan Township, residents are wondering when the Starbucks, Roy Rogers, Costco, Chick-fil-A and Buffalo Wild Wings will open.

Here's what you need to know about each location.

Roy Rogers

Following the opening of a Roy Rogers in Franklin Township, Sussex County earlier in July, where hundreds of fans camped out to be among the first in line, franchise owner Dipen Desai announced that another location would open in Flemington.

The Flemington location at 10 Route 31 South, will be among four additional locations, including Edison, Rockaway and Belleville, expected to open by 2016. The site was previously home to a Chicken Addiction, which is now closed.

Chick-fil-A

Replacing the long empty Burger King at 283 Route 202 South, the Chick-fil-A is projected to open late January 2016, according to a company spokesman.

In February, Flemington Borough Council approved zoning variances for relief from rules governing lot depth, impervious coverage, loading-zone width, setbacks, lighting, signage, parking configuration, landscaped buffers and the number of trees required at the site and construction began in August.

Starbucks

Coffee and espresso fans won't have to wait much longer as the Raritan Township Starbucks on Route 202-31 north is expected to open before the end of November.

Just in time for gingerbread lattes and the peppermint mocha frappuccino, a manager at the Pennington Starbucks, which held a job fair for the new location in September, confirmed a target opening date of Monday, Nov. 23.

Buffalo Wild Wings

Construction is underway at the Raritan Town Center on Route 31 north next to the LongHorn Steakhouse, and Raritan Township Mayor Craig O'Brien said the township has been told the restaurant plans to open by April 2016.

Plans call for a 5,474-square-foot Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant that would face north, in a one-story building that would also contain 4,772 square feet of retail space divided into two stores both of which would face south.

Buffalo Wild Wings is an American casual dining restaurant and sports bar franchise which specializes in chicken wings and sauces.

Costco

Site preparations are nearing completion by Garden Commercial Properties, and Costco will later construct the 150,000-square-foot store and gas station at its Junction Road location across from Hunterdon Central High School.

In February, people involved with the project were expecting construction to begin in June, with the store ready to open in November, but store construction, which is estimated to take about five months, has not yet begun.

A Costco spokesperson said the company does not comment on construction of future locations, and until the new store is complete, the Costco closest to Flemington is 17 miles away in Bridgewater.
