Star: Daniel Craig

The latest Bond blockbuster Spectre has beaten Avatar to become the UK's highest grossing Imax film of all time.

The Sam Mendes-directed movie starring Daniel Craig has grossed £6.66m in the first four weeks since it was released.

The record was previously held by James Cameron's Avatar, which grossed £6.55m in 2009 in the UK.

Spectre has beaten Avatar only if inflation is not taken into account, however. When comparing the figures on a like-for-like basis, Avatar's Imax box office is £7.91m - £1.25m more than Spectre.

Spectre has taken in more than £331m in total worldwide sales, with Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 and Star Wars: The Force Awakens set to boost Christmas box office takings further.
