Focus should be on wealthy health insurance companies: Letter to the Editor

Why aren't we focusing on health insurance companies and big pharm, instead of free health care for all?

From Fortune magazine:

United Health - The largest U.S. health insurer now plans to exit the Affordable Care Act marketplaces in 26 states due to mounting losses. That hasn't hurt its growth, however. United Health brought in revenues of $157.1 billion last year.

Anthem the second biggest U.S. health insurer, trails UnitedHealth. It brought in $79.2 billion worth of sales last year.

Humana, soon to be merged into Aetna (buying Humana for $34 billion), boosted its sales last year, hitting $54.3 billion.

Express Scripts is the largest pharmacy benefit manager in the U.S with revenues of $101.8 billion.

Pfizer faced a difficult year in 2015. The only pharmaceutical giant among the 10 biggest health care companies saw sales decline 1.5 percent to $48.9 billion.

McKesson - The pharmaceutical distributor and health care IT company tops the list of biggest U.S. health care companies. It brought in revenues of $181.2 billion last year.

AmerisourceBergen is the second-largest distributor of pharmaceuticals in the U.S., after McKesson, and it had a good year in 2015 posted revenues of $136 billion.

Cardinal Health, the drug wholesaler brought in revenues of $102.5 billion.

This is where we should concentrate. These monster companies are making billions, allowing only the upper class to afford good health care. And the pharmaceutical companies must stop advertising on television; stop giving themselves crazy bonuses and stop raising the cost of vital, life-saving drugs.
