(CNN) - A Dallas area officer says he needed a reason to smile this week, following the host of tragic events involving police.

His prayers were answered thanks to an unexpected stop at a gas station and a 6 pound surprise. She sure doesn't look all that scary, but apparently little Evelyn is one of the first to terrify SWAT deputy Mark Diebold.

"I can go into a house full of bad guys with no fear whatsoever, I mean inside or out, but this literally scared me half to death" says Deputy Mark Diebold, Tarrant County Precinct 5.

Monday morning he was patrolling Highway 377 in Benbrook when he saw a speeder...having no idea the conversation going on in the SUV he was about to stop.

"She's like, I'm having the baby? and I'm like no you're not," says the father Caleb Hall.

"I said, you need to make it to the side of the road. I'm not making it to the hospital," mother, Destiny Hall.

This gas station surveillance video shows Caleb and Destiny Hall pull in with their black jeep, Deputy Dielbold not far behind.

"One of the moments I'll never forget. I'll remember it for the rest of my life,"says Deputy Diebold.

What happened next is off camera. But you can get an idea how it must have looked  based on the reaction of the gas station owner.

"Cause then I look up and I see the gas station owner and I'm seeing these construction guys like?( jaw drops,)" says Destiny.

"All I could do was hold her hand and guide him on what to do," says Deputy Diebold.

Evelyn was born right then and there. Her very first little cries in this Quik Stop parking lot.

"Amazing. I can't even put it into words, it was the most beautiful sound I think I've ever heard," says Deputy Diebold.

Diebold said earlier that morning recent events had him doubting his role as an officer.  So he asked God for a sign and got one at 6 pounds,11 ounces.

"Personally I needed it. That morning, I needed it more than ever. It was an answered prayer, literally. An answered prayer," says Deputy Diebold.

"If this can maybe positively impact somebody's life, I know it did ours? and it will be a story we will never ever forget," laughs Destiny.

The bonding between the parents and the deputy already started. They plan to meet for dinner later this week.
