Earnings for Hatteras Financial Corp. Expected to Fall

Hatteras Financial Corp. is expected to report lower second-quarter earnings on Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Analysts are expecting a 16% drop in earnings from a year ago. The consensus estimate is 53 cents per share, down from earnings of 63 cents per share a year ago.

The consensus estimate remains unchanged over the past month, but it has decreased from three months ago when it was 55 cents. For the fiscal year, analysts are projecting earnings of $2.16 per share. Revenue is projected to eclipse the year-earlier total of $30 million by 33%, finishing at $40 million for the quarter. For the year, revenue is projected to roll in at $169.1 million.

Hatteras Financial is an externally-managed mortgage REIT that invests in adjustable-rate and hybrid adjustable-rate single-family residential mortgage pass-through securities guaranteed or issued by a United States Government agency or United States Government-sponsored entity. CYS Investments Inc, also in the real estate operations industry, will report earnings on Wednesday, July 22, 2015. Analysts are expecting earnings of 29 cents per share for CYS Investments, down 12% from last year's earnings of 33 cents per share. Other companies in the real estate operations industry with upcoming earnings release dates include: American Capital Agency, Capstead Mortgage and Invesco Mortgage Capital.
