ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's track and field team hosted 17 teams the at Bolstorff Twilight this evening. Under weather that felt more March than almost May, athletes from Divisions II and III competed at the meet named in honor of Doug Bolstorff, a long-time coach of various Macalester varsity programs.
In the 3000 meter steeplechase, senior
Lachlan Hinwood (Colfax, Wis./Colfax) placed second in a personal best time of 9:34.48 which ranks No. 8 on the Macalester list. Sophomore
Chris Boranian (Oakland, Calif./Head Royce) was eighth overall in the 1500 meter run in a time of 4:11.14.
Junior
Sean Hayes (Buckley, Wash./White River) took second in the javelin with a throw of 52.12 meters (171-00). Sophomore
Andrew Smith (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine) cleared 1.78 meters (5-10.00) in the high jump to place eighth. Junior
David McNichols (New London, Wis./Shiocton) threw 48.81 meters (160-13) to take fifth in the hammer throw.
In the 400 meter dash, junior
Brian Eisner (Portland, Ore./Oregon Episcopal) ran 52.66 to place fourth with sophomore
Michael Gutierrez (Stillwater, Minn./St. Croix Prep) crossing in 10th in a time of 53.29. Eisner later took third in the 200 meter dash in 24.16 with first year
Eddy Reyes Herrera (Sonoma, Calif./Sonoma Valley) earning fifth in 24.26.
In the 100 meter dash senior
Aidan Hennen (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) placed eighth posting a time of 11.76.
Teammates sophomore
Mac Doherty (Madison, Wis./Madison East) and first year
Henry Harper (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park) went 11th and 12th in the 5000 running 15:24.50 and 15:24.52 respectively. First year
Jake Lepak (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis University HS), junior
Alex Gordon (Chicago, Ill./Northside College Prep) and first year
Sam O'Donnell Hoff (St. Paul, Minn./Roseville) all laid down personal bests in the event.
The Scots will compete next at the Meet of the Unsaintly hosted by Hamline on May 6.
