More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.2%, the Nasdaq was down 0.3% and the S&P 500 fell 0.2%.

- National Steel Corp (SID): SID stock is up 3.7% today.
- Gold Fields Ltd (GFI): GFI stock is up 2.4% today.
- Novagold Resources Inc (NG): NG stock is up 2.6% today.
- Eldorado Gold Corp (EGO): EGO stock is up 2.1% today.
- Syngenta Ag (SYT): SYT stock is up 1.9% today.
- New Gold Inc (NGD): NGD stock is up 1.8% today.
- Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan Inc (POT): POT stock is up 1.9% today.
- Sasol Ltd (SSL): SSL stock is up 1.5% today.
- Silver Wheaton Corp (SLW): SLW stock is up 2.0% today.
Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:
- Carlisle Companies Inc (CSL): CSL stock is down 3.4%, marking the ninth consecutive day the stock has decreased.
- Vedanta Ltd (VEDL): VEDL stock is down 3.2%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.
- Georgia Gulf Corp (AXLL): AXLL stock is down 2.5% today and down 32.1% in the last month.
- Huntsman Corp (HUN): HUN stock is down 2.2% today and down 36.6% in the last month.
- Newmarket Corp (NEU): NEU stock is down 2.0%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.
- Aluminum Corporation of China Ltd (ACH): ACH stock is down 1.7%, marking the sixth consecutive day the stock has decreased.
- Fibria Celulose S.A. (FBR): FBR stock is down 1.6%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.
- Berry Plastics Group Inc (BERY): BERY stock is down 1.4% today.
- Trex Company (TREX): TREX stock is down 1.1% today.
- Packaging Corporation of America (PKG): PKG stock is down 0.9% today.
