Lacrosse roundup: DiLorenzo, Carlin erupt to lead Arlington girls

Danielle DiLorenzo had seven goals and an assist, leading the Arlington High School girls lacrosse team to a 16-6 win over host Our Lady of Lourdes on Wednesday.

Abby Carlin added six goals and two assists, and Danielle Heady had two goals and an assist. Kelly Coster scored a goal and Maryn Lowell made four saves for the Admirals (10-3).

“It was a nice league win for us,” Arlington coach Dan Schmitt said. “We got off to a quick start and the offense did a nice job. Dani and Abby on the offensive side took over.”

Cat Gallery and Maeve Connolly each scored a goal and handed out an assist for the Warriors (2-10). Maeve Connaughton and Allison Brady each added a goal, and Gab Breault had seven saves.

“I thought we played well, I think the game just got away from us a little early,” said Lourdes coach Mike Galantich, whose team hosts Beacon at 4 p.m. Saturday for its Senior Day.

Red Hook 19, Highland 7 — Ciara Burud had six goals and an assist and Mia Michaelides had five goals and two assists to lead host Red Hook.

Rachel DeSimone added two goals and two assists, and Syr Esposito and Julia Bemis each scored twice for the Raiders (6-3). Amelia Lovice and Emily Neese each had a goal, and DeCourcey Gardner made five saves.

“I was really happy to see the good ball movement through the midfield,” Red Hook coach Yvonne Turchetti said. “We had some good fast-break opportunities that we capitalized on early. It was also good to see multiple kids scoring.”

Liz Fino scored four goals and Savanna Caso had two for Highland.

Red Hook visits Millbrook at 5 p.m. Friday.

Millbrook 15, James I. O'Neill 10 — Kaitlyn Daly, after playing goalie for a day on Monday, returned to the midfield and had five goals and two assists to lead visiting Millbrook on Wednesday.

Sam Szalewicz and Liz Halpin each added three goals and Erin Fox had two goals and two assists for the Blazers (7-2). Taylor Redl had a goal and an assist, and Kiri DiCintio had two assists. Claire Martell, after missing Monday's game with an injury, returned to the lineup and made 10 saves in the win. She also had an assist.

"Hannah Fisher had a great game with numerous turnovers and great groundball pick-ups," Blazers coach Jillian Barnes said. "Claire Martell was back in net and played well."

Millbrook hosts Red Hook at 5 p.m. Friday.

Beacon 12, Pawling 7 — Eliana Lotero scored five goals to leads the host Bulldogs. Jessica Musacchio added four goals.

Gabby DeMaria (two goals) and Victoria Bank (one goal) pitched in, while Mia Espinal made four saves in goal.

Boys lacrosse

James Coneffaro had four goals and an assist to lead visiting Pawling in an 8-4 win over Franklin D. Roosevelt on Wednesday.

Steve Caione added two goals and Sean Snow had two assists for the Tigers.

Jack Hamel scored twice and Matt Bertsche made 10 saves for Roosevelt.

Lakeland/Walter Panas 12, Wappingers 5 — Jack Decker scored twice in the loss for Wappingers late Tuesday.

Jake Shaw, James Pratt and Danny Diedrich each added a goal and Emad Jamal made 11 saves for Wappingers (9-3).

“We came out strong, but somehow lost focus,” Wappingers coach Brian Kuczma said. “We made some mental errors, and against a good team like (Lakeland) they’re going to capitalize. But we’re going to continue to make corrections and get better for playoffs.”

Wappingers hosts Our Lady of Lourdes at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
