New stores coming to Briarwood Mall this fall

A trio of retailers will be opening in Briarwood Mall by the end of the year, joining several other businesses that have opened or reopened following renovations earlier in 2015.

The new establishments were announced in a press release issued by Simon Property Group - which owns Briarwood Mall - Tuesday afternoon.

The three stores expected to open later this year include:

Freshii - Described as a "purveyor of salads, smoothies and wraps," Freshii will be located in the space formerly occupied by Potato & Co. in the Sears wings of the mall near Chipotle and California Pizza Kitchen. The 571-square-foot restaurant plans to open by fall.

Dry Goods - This 3,400-square-foot store will open across from the new Victoria Secret store in the JCPenney wing. Dry Goods will carry a changing selection of clothing, jewelry, and accessories. The store is expected to open in the early fall.

Villa - Setting out to create a high-energy shopping experience, Villa will sell apparel and accessories. The 4,482-square-foot store is located in the Von Maur corridor and is expected to open in December.

"We're very proud to welcome new retailers and enhanced shopping experiences from
some current tenants," said Denise Murray, director of marketing and business
development in the press release. "This is an exciting time for Briarwood as we move into the holiday shopping season and begin to look toward 2016."

While the new stores are expected to open later this year, other activity has been ongoing at the mall throughout the summer.

Kay Jewelers has reopened following a renovation of its store. Gold and Gema will be relocating to the Sears corridor after previously being near Von Maur.

Sunglass Hut is currently under renovation, but when the store will reopen was not clear.

Perfect Fit Tailor has relocated from its old storefront in the Von Maur wing to a space across from Olga's Kitchen.

Victoria Secret has also reopened in a larger store that is directly across from its old store. The Victoria Secret store was completed earlier this year.

Sock World has opened next to JB Robinson near the mall's courtyard and specializes in socks, workout gear and accessories.

Simon is an S&P 100 company with an estimated value of nearly $55 billion based on available stock. The company owns or has an interest in more than 230 retail real estate properties in North America, Europe and Asia.

Stock in Simon trades on the New York Stock Exchange (SPG) and closed Tuesday at $177.09
