There have been rumors that “Red Dead Redemption 2” will be announced soon. The sequel is said to be set in the Wild West, just like its predecessor.

“Red Dead Redemption” by Rockstar Games is owned by Take-Two Interactive Software Inc., which is an open-world action adventure game with a 20th century Wild West setting. The original game was released for the PlayStation 3 and the Microsoft Xbox 360.

“Red Dead Redemption 2” will be a sequel to “Red Dead Revolver”, which was released in 2004, BidnessEtc reported. “Revolver” was well-received by gamers because of its gameplay, story, mechanics and characters. Since then, players have been asking for the next installment, but Rockstar has not yet made any official confirmation.

A former Rockstar Studios employee previously said that there will be a sequel entitled “Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West”. The source also said that the former protagonist, John Marston, will not be returning in the sequel. There will, however, be three new characters, namely Irish, Seth and a customizable one, based on the same report by Bidness Etc. With three new characters in play, the plot may follow that of Rockstar’s “Grand Theft Auto V”.

Christian Today wrote that only a few details about the characters have been revealed. Irish is said to have been raised in Ireland but transferred to America on his 21st birthday. Seth is from Kansas City and works in a bank. Both Irish and Seth initially set out to find hidden treasure and will eventually cross each other’s paths in Tumbleweed, Texas. As for the third customizable character, he can be used on gang-mode, which hinted the possibility of a multiplayer mode in the game. The character will be a gun-for-hire. The story reportedly unfolds 12 years before the events of the original “Red Dead Redemption”. It is possible that there might be brief appearances by John Marston.

“Red Dead Revolver” was lauded for its great graphics and animation, so the available technology at present will expectedly make “Red Dead 2” even more dynamic. Players might enjoy a living open-world aside from the campaign, Red Bull stated.

“Red Dead Redemption 2” was nowhere in sight at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2015. A senior developer from Rockstar Games allegedly confirmed that they are already working on the new game. Everything remains in speculation at the moment, but there are some who claim that the game might finally launch in 2016.
