Terry Brown seeks re-election to House District 22 seat

Rep. Terry Brown is running for a second term as House District 22 representative.

"I am a conservative and an independent candidate, and I have consistently voted for the responsible use of your tax dollars," said Brown, who noted he is pro-life.

Brown, I-Colfax, is a lifelong resident of Grant Parish and has been married to Lou Altazan Brown for 27 years. His daughter, Ann-Elizabeth Brown, is a special education teacher at Verda Elementary.

He has a bachelor's degree in education from Northwestern State University and taught in both the Grant and the Rapides Parish school systems. He then worked for 35 years in the real estate division of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development before retiring in 2011.

Brown said he has an A rating from the Louisiana Association of Educators. He said he has "helped lead the fight against Common Core" because children "deserve a more individualized approach to learning that can foster curiosity, creativity and independent thinking."

He is a member of Colfax United Methodist Church and the National Rifle Association, and he is active in numerous Grant Parish civic activities.
