Hot Dog Joint Frank Reopens After Unpaid Taxes Shutdown

Frank is now reopened after the downtown hot dog restaurant and bar was shut down earlier this month on 407 Colorado Street. Because of unpaid taxes, the restaurant was seized by the Texas Comptroller’s Office on Thursday, February 1. It reopened its doors on Friday, February 16.

Frank co-owners Daniel Northcutt and Geoff Peveto said that their tax issues stemmed from the San Antonio location of Frank, which wasn’t doing well, as they told Austin 360 earlier.

The San Antonio location of Frank closed in mid-January so that they could “focus and fully realize our other collective business ventures and individual projects.”

The UT Austin campus-adjacent outpost of Frank within Urban Outfitters’ Space 24 Twenty remained open throughout all of this. Frank also runs the food and beverage menus at the historic Scholz Garten.

The original Frank restaurant on Colorado Street opened in 2009. It is known for its hot dogs, sausages, and cocktails.
