CHICAGO — A person was struck and killed by a Union Pacific North on the Northwest Side Friday morning, officials said.

Train 320, scheduled to arrive in Chicago 8:26 a.m., hit the person around 8:15 a.m. between the Ravenswood and Clybourn stations, according to Tom Miller, a spokesman for Metra.

Paramedics were called but the person, a female whose age was not known, was dead on the scene, according Chicago Fire Department officials.

Miller said the accident was causing delays of an hour or more.
