Ryder System Inc. Earnings Climb 8% In Q3

Ryder System Inc. (R) revealed a profit for its third quarter that gained ground from last year.

The company said its bottom line came in at $93.3 million, or $1.74 per share. This was higher than $86.5 million, or $1.63 per share, in last year's third quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.73 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 6.7% to $1.43 billion. This was up from $1.34 billion last year.
