Prospect Council tabled Dollar General vote

PROSPECT - Prospect Village Council met Feb. 20. During the meeting, Mayor Jim  Millisor tabled the vote on the Dollar General store as the developers were looking at two other locations.

Councilman Harold Stiffler reported the local Lions Club would like to install several  benches near the village tree in commemoration of the Lions 100th Anniversary.

Ben O'Dell requested $10,000. for tree work in the village. Council approved that amount and any money not used would be returned to the general fund. He announced Arbor Day is set for Saturday April 29 and a tree will be planted for the occasion. O'Dell reported that a lot of the work in planting, removing or trimming trees is done by the Tree Committee volunteers.

A check for $300 from Kim and Sandy Lauer was presented to assist in work on the volleyball court to be built in the park.

The next Village Council meeting is slated for March 6.

County Dems plan FDR breakfast

MARION - The Marion County Democrats have planned their annual FDR breakfast to take place at 9:30 a.m. March 4 at the Historic Women's Club Home, 1126, E. Center St.

Congressman Tim Ryan has planned to be in attendance. Tickets are $25 and may be purchased at the door, local meetings and from members.
