Chamber plans talk on market, economy
Guilio Martini, director of Strategic Allocation Strategies at Lord, Abbett & Co. LLC, will be the featured speaker Thursday at the 2017 Economic & Market Outlook program sponsored by the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce.
The program will be held Thursday from 5:30 to 8 o.m., at Lord, Abbett & Co., 90 Hudson St., Jersey City. Parking is available at 101 Hudson St.
The program for the evening will deal with the economy and markets, which had a strong finish in 2016. As a new White House administration takes over, where are the economy and markets headed in 2017? What does it mean for the Hudson County region? What does it mean for business?
Popeyes adding third location in Jersey City
The popular Popeyes fried chicken restaurant chain is adding another location in Jersey City.
Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen franchise is moving into a 2,000-square-feet location at the Twin City Shopping Center, 2 Garfield Ave., and will join Aqui Market, a new Retro Fitness, Everything $.99, Wendy's and Dunkin Donuts, said Levin Management Corp., which manages the property.
"The addition of a nationally recognized brand like Popeyes adds an exciting new dining element to this property," said E.J. Moawad, LMC's leasing representative for Twin City Shopping Center.
This will be the third Popeyes in Jersey City. One is located at Hudson Mall on Route 440 and another is open at 924 Bergen Ave. There are also Popeyes locations in Hudson County in Bayonne and Harrison.
Original Hoboken Blimpie relocated to 14th Street
The country's first Blimpie's sandwich shop is relocating to the corner of 14th Street and Willow Avenue next to the Malibu Diner.
Blimpie was established in Hoboken in 1964 at Seventh and Washington streets, and later moved to First and Washington streets, where they are located now.
The sandwich shop is relocating uptown because its lease is not being renewed, officials said.
The downtown shop will stay open until November 2017.
The new facility, expected to open this spring, will have parking.
Ribbon cutting held for 3 Union City music spots
Union City Mayor Brian P. Stack helped cut the ribbon last month on renovated lesson studios at Pastore Music, 507 32nd St.
A separate ribbon cutting was also held for the Ronaldo Custom Guitar Gallery and Fuzion Recording Studios, both located at 3208 Bergenline Ave.
Pastore Music, Ronaldo Custom, The Grace Theatre and Fuzion Recording are looking to help the community by hosting after-school events for youth such as music lessons, dance, acting, music recording as well as instructions on guitar building.
Broadway Sunoco adds U-Haul dealership
The U-Haul has announced that the Broadway Sunoco signed on as a U-Haul neighborhood dealer to serve Jersey City.

Weichert Downtown Jersey City office cited for work
Regional Vice President of Weichert Realtors Robert Gavura announced the company's Downtown Jersey Office was recognized for outstanding performance in December.
The office was the top office in the company for dollar volume, resales and resale dollar volume and led its Weichert sales region in new home dollar volume, resale listings, resales, resale revenue units and resale dollar volume.
Sales associates Natalia Chebalina, who led the the region for resale listings, and Albert Ngai, were individually recognized for their success during the month.
Weichert also recognized sales associate Christopher Amberg of the Jersey City Exchange Place office for his success in December. Amberg is a top producer who led the sales region for resale dollar volume.
