Cardtronics, Allpoint throw support behind Withdraw Cash Wednesday campaign

Cardtronics and Allpoint Network have joined the Withdraw Cash Wednesday campaign as platinum sponsors, according to a press release.

Withdraw Cash Wednesday was initiated by the ATM Industry Association as a way to encourage consumers to use cash in their holiday shopping. The campaign will run from Nov. 22, the day before Thanksgiving, through Dec. 27, the last Wednesday of the holiday season.

"While consumer payment behaviors evolve along with technology, consumers continue choosing and using cash as part of a broader mix of payments options," Cardtronics CMO Tom Pierce said in the release. "… [W]e are proud to support the Withdraw Cash Wednesday campaign because we believe in cash and believe consumers have the right to use the payment method of their choice — including cash."

ATMIA CEO Mike Lee praised Cardtronics and Allpoint for their support of the campaign and urged all ATM owners, operators, vendors and service providers to join in, as well.

"This campaign is a leap forward in promoting the positive role of cash for consumers, businesses, and for the healthy functioning of the U.S. economy in 2017 and beyond," Lee said. "Our simple narrative is that cash is good."
