FactSet Research Systems Q3 Profit Rises; Issues Q4 Outlook - Quick Facts

Financial data provider FactSet Research Systems Inc. (FDS) posted third-quarter net income of $61.4 million, or $1.45 a share, up from $51.5 million, or $1.21 a share in the comparable quarter last year.

Adjusted net income for the quarter was $60.0 million or $1.42 per share, compared to $53.1 million or $1.25 per share in the prior year.

On average, 15 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $1.41 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

For the latest quarter, revenues advanced by 9.8% to $254.52 million from the prior year's $231.76 million, while 14 analysts estimated revenues of $253.56 million for the quarter. Included in this total was $2.4 million from acquisitions completed since June 2014, according to the company.

Operating income was $85.36 million, compared to $73.04 million in the year-ago quarter.

Looking ahead to the fourth quarter, the company expects earnings per share to range between $1.46 and $1.48. The midpoint of this range represents 12% growth over the prior year. Revenues are expected to range between $259 million and $263 million. Analysts expect the company to report earnings of $1.46 per share on revenues of $260.08 million for the fourth quarter.
