Pond, an Atlanta-based architecture, engineering and planning firm, has been awarded a five-year, $100 million contract by the U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center that will be overseen at the company’s Metairie office.

The contract is for real property planning and programming management support services in the Army’s joint venture with Woolpert, an Ohio-based firm that specializes in design, geospatial, engineering and landscape architecture services.

A news release says the contract will be managed by Pond’s planning and geospatial hub in Metairie. The work will support Army installations and Department of Defense agencies at locations worldwide.

Sam Briuglio, Pond’s vice president of military planning and geospatial and operations officer of the Metairie office, said his team has a longstanding relationship with Woolpert and has worked with the firm on many projects.

Pond established its international hub for Federal Facilities Planning and Geospatial Services in Metairie in 2012. Its local team of two employees has grown to 30 workers in more than 6,000 square feet of office space, generating over $30 million in revenue in military and federal master planning, geospatial services, application development and design support.

Beyond its military clients, Pond’s Metairie hub also provides natural gas GIS mapping support for Southern Company and coastal restoration management planning and GIS for the Ed Wisner Donation. The office’s Louisiana projects include an Installation Development Plan for the Louisiana Air National Guard; the Interstate 10 Corridor Master Plan for the U.S. Army Reserve; and an Army Materiel Command Master Plan at Fort Polk Army Garrison. The local office has several multi-year federal contracts with the Air National Guard, Marine Reserves, the Army Material Command and Army Sustainment Command.

Pond offers a Military Master Planning class at the University of New Orleans, and Briuglio teaches classes at UNO on GIS and cartography and site planning for military and federal projects.
