Wake up and smell the soda?

Renowned for their do-it-yourself coffee maker, Keurig has released their newest machine, Keurig KOLD — which allows users to make carbonated drinks, sparkling waters and other beverages right from the comfort of their own home.

“Keurig has redefined the way consumers enjoy coffee and tea in their homes and offices and with the launch of Keurig KOLD, we’re embarking on a new journey that will change the way consumers enjoy cold beverages at home,” Brian Kelley, president and CEO of Keurig, said in a statement.

Soda companies such as Coca-Cola and Dr. Pepper Snapple Group have teamed up with Keurig Green Mountain Inc. to make their drinks available for use in the KOLD machine, which can be purchased online.

Also available are sparkling and flavored seltzers, iced teas and sports drinks.

Keurig KOLD pods, similar to the ones used in the Keurig coffee machines, offers many drink selections such as Coca-Cola, Sprite, Fanta and other flavored waters and seltzers.

Keurig KOLD will be available at select retailers in New York, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas and Los Angeles beginning in October.

The machine works using its KOLD pod and does not use a carbon dioxide canister, instead employing trademarked Karbonator beads that are in the pod which release carbon dioxide into the drink for its fizzy effect, according to a news release.

The Keurig KOLD machine comes in either black or white and makes eight ounce chilled drinks, most 100 calories or less. They currently go for $369.99 and include two Keurig KOLD drinking glasses. The KOLD pods cost roughly $5 for a four-count box.

Other beverages that are available are Sprite, Fanta, Canada Dry and Keurig’s own Seraphine line of zero-calorie flavored seltzers as well as iced teas, root beers and flavored waters.
