Washington Twp. police bring man back from death

Staff report

WASHINGTON TWP. – A township resident was brought back from the brink of death by three police officers who performed CPR on him, police said.

At 10:25 a.m. on Friday, Sgt. Brian Bigham and Officers Thomas Falleni and Frank Giaquinto responded to a medical call for a possible stroke at a private residence on Bartley Road, police said.

Giaquinto was the first to get to the home and he found an 84-year-old man, who was unconscious, not breathing and did not have a pulse, police said.

Giaquinto began to administer CPR and was then assisted by Bigham and Falleni as they arrived at the scene, police said.

After several cycles of CPR along with a shock from the officers Automated External Defibrillators (AED), the man was transported by Long Valley First Squad to Chubb Park in Chester Township.

The man was then airlifted to Morristown Medical Center for further treatment.

A follow up later in the day by the officers found the male subject was doing well and recovering at the hospital, police said.
