Overnight storms knocked out power to nearly 2,000 KCP&L customers overnight.

Early this morning KCP&L officials report that winds about 40 mph, along with stronger gusts, tree limbs and rain knocked out power across the metro.

More than 100 outages were reported, and nearly 2,000 customers were affected.

At 11 a.m.  96 outages affected 1,930 customers were still in the dark.

Officials say crews have been assigned, but with the number of outages it may be some time before all are restored.

Nearly 1,500 Jackson County residents were in the dark in an area from 56th Street south of 63rd. and Raytown Road.

Clay county saw 99 customers out, Johnson County 79 customers.

Westar Power reported 26 outages impacting 163 customers.
