While searching a house in Manitowoc, Wis. after smelling marijuana, police found something surprising - a crocodile.

Inside the residence, investigators with the Manitowoc County Metro Drug Unit on Thursday found six teenagers, about a half pound of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and other items used in the selling of drugs, according to the Manitowoc Herald Times Reporter.

In the basement, they found a 3-foot-long crocodile. The reptile appeared to be neglected and in poor condition.

It's unclear how the teenagers came to be in possession of the crocodile, which is not permitted in the city.

The crocodile was turned over to Wildlife of Wisconsin.

Charges are pending.
