Names+Faces: Steve Jobs’ widow begged stars to say no

Steve Jobs ’ widow was so intent on killing the upcoming biopic about the controversial Apple CEO that she called up actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale, begging them to stay away from the film.

“Since the very beginning, Laurene Jobs has been trying to kill this movie, OK?” an important player in the “Steve Jobs” movie told the Hollywood Reporter.

“Laurene Jobs called Leo DiCaprio and said, ‘Don’t do it.’ Laurene Jobs called Christian Bale and said, ‘Don’t (do it).’ ”

DiCaprio and Bale were approached to play the title role. “Inglorious Basterds” star Michael Fassbender eventually accepted the part.

The 51-year-old widow, who married Jobs in 1991, also lobbied a major studio to back away from the project, which paints Jobs as a brilliant but flawed leader, sources told the magazine.

“They haven’t helped,” the movie’s director Danny Boyle said of Laurene Jobs and current Apple CEO Tim Cook. “There’s been some tough moments. I’m not going to go into them.”

Is Hendricks’ face red?

Famous redhead Christina Hendricks’ hair-dye commercial for Clairol brand Nice ’n Easy has been banned in the U.K., says Us magazine.

The ad implied that Hendricks’ fiery locks could change from bright red to a luxe blonde in only one step, but after an investigation by the Advertising Standards Authority, Procter & Gamble, who makes the product, admitted the video was filmed in reverse.

Though she’s famous for her red tresses, Hendricks, 40, has been coloring her hair since she was 10 years old, according to the Daily Mail. Before filming the clip, the “Mad Men” alum was asked not to color her hair for eight weeks so that the blonde dye in their product would come through easily.

Despite the ban, Procter & Gamble stands behind their products. “We are disappointed in the outcome as we are confident that the color change we depicted is achievable using our products,” the company said in a statement. “However, we respect the final decision of the ASA and will be removing the television copy from air with immediate effect.”

Politicians are staying up late

The “Tonight” show says it has booked Boehner as a guest for its show tonight. He’ll be on with Michael Fassbender, Brie Larson and musical guest CeeLo Green.

The newly competitive late-night scene has welcomed politicians at a dizzying clip in recent weeks. Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight” show has hosted Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Former President Bill Clinton was on Stephen Colbert’s show this week and Colbert also has brought on Vice President Joe Biden.

What part of ‘don’t’ was confusing?

Actors shooting “Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials” may have run off with American Indian artifacts.

Representatives from 20th Century Fox are trying to determine if actors including star Dylan O’Brien helped themselves to artifacts while filming the “Maze Runner” sequel at a private New Mexico ranch.

Diamond Tail Ranch manager Roch Hart told the Associated Press that following comments by O’Brien, the studio is investigating claims the cast took artifacts and will seek to return any stolen items.

“They want to make it right,” Hart said. “Right now, we don’t know if anything was removed, but we are taking the claims very seriously.”

During an appearance on “Live with Kelly and Michael” last month, O’Brien said cast members took artifacts from the private ranch north of Albuquerque, despite warnings not to.

“They gave us this big speech when we got there to shoot, and they said, ‘Don’t take anything. Respect the grounds,’ ” O’Brien said. “They were very strict about littering and don’t take any artifacts like rocks, skulls ... anything like that. And everyone just takes stuff, you know, obviously.”
