Singer Sinéad O’Connor is safe after posting on Sunday a harrowing Facebook message claiming she had checked into a hotel and “taken an overdose,” the Irish media reported.
“There is only so much any woman can be expected to bear,” the note reads. “What was done to me this week was appalling cruelty.”
“The last two nights finished me off. I have taken an overdose,” it continued. “There is no other way to get respect. I am not at home, I’m at a hotel, somewhere in ireland, under another name.”

The Irish Mirror reported that police confirmed she had been found an hour and a half after the post went up and was receiving medical attention.
The Irish singer had posted a number of harrowing statuses on Facebook the past few days, many of which documented her battle with Donal Lunny for custody of their 11-year-old son, Shane.
Sunday’s latest note called out many of O’Connor’s close ones, including Lunny as well as several family members, claiming they didn’t value her.
“Well done guys, you’ve finally got rid of me,” it reads. “Sorry the penny didn’t drop sooner. I’m an idiot. When you planned to get me away from my babies did you plan for me losing my mind over it? It being the final straw? For how you’re gonna explain why I died? Make sure you tell the truth.”
O’Connor has struggled with suicidal thoughts in the past. In 2007, she revealed to Oprah Winfrey that she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and had attempted suicide on her 33rd birthday in 1999.
Then in January 2012, she sought help on Twitter after allegedly attempting to take her own life again.
This past August, O’Connor underwent a hysterectomy, which appeared to be referenced on the distressing message on her Facebook page Sunday.
The singer also claimed she was quitting music in a Facebook post, blaming her career for many of her problems.
“I need a new home. And a new job. A new life,” she wrote. “Music is over for me. Music did this.”
“It rendered me invisible,” she added. “Murdered my soul. I’m never going back to music.”
