HOOVER, Ala. - Hoover Police are reminding you to be extra careful when going to the movies or while shopping at Patton Creek.

Police say there have been four car break-ins in the last two weeks. A truck was also broken into outside Firebirds. Police say windows were busted out and valuables were taken.

A police cruiser was parked in the Carmike Cinemas{}parking lot Monday afternoon.

Mary Lou Kunka, owner of Lou Lou's, says she's told employees to lock their vehicles and bring purses inside. She says the fact this is happening is really disconcerting. "I think you can't be surprised anymore, but you are surprised and I have never felt unsafe here, I own the store and have worked here many hours and days and I have never felt unsafe."

Police also advise don't keep any valuables in plain site. ABC 33/40 called the property management group to see if anything else could be done and have not heard back.
