Horsehead Holding closes offering

Zinc producer Horsehead Holding Corp. of Crafton said on Wednesday that it sold $100 million worth of convertible senior notes, and has closed the offering.

The notes are due to be repaid in 2017. Horsehead said that it plans to use a portion of the proceeds to pay for the initial stages of construction of a new zinc plant, as well as for general capital needs, capital expenditures and acquisitions.

Horsehead, which has a zinc plant near Monaca, has said it is considering building the new facility at its existing plant, as well as out-of-state sites.
