Crash leads to house fire, cuts power in Winston-Salem
A house was damaged by fire and dozens of Duke Energy customers lost power following a crash into a utility pole early Wednesday morning.The crash was reported just before 2:45 a.m. in the 3500 block of Rosie Street. Two people were in the home at the time of the fire, but neither were injured.The vehicle left the scene after hitting the pole, Winston-Salem fire officials said. The crash led to a downed power line, and fire officials believe a resulting electrical overload in the house led to the fire.Two adults and two children were displaced from the home, fire officials said.Duke Energy reported about 40 outages in the area of Rosie Street for a few hours.
