Deputies: Man grabbed money bag from Brink’s guard

A 26-year-old man is accused of robbing a Brink’s truck security guard near a Wells Fargo bank on South Chickasaw Trail Friday afternoon.

Charles Chukes faces a charge of grand theft.

The Brink’s employee was filling an ATM at 2400 S. Chickasaw Trail with bills just before 3 p.m. when Chukes allegedly approached him and took his bag of money, Orange County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Lourdes Clayton said.

The Brink’s guard fired his gun at Chukes as he fled, Clayton said.

The Brink’s guard was not hurt.

Deputies found the white Dodge Magnum Chukes is accused of fleeing in about two miles north of the bank, on Empress Lane.

They arrested Chukes, who is being held in the Orange County Jail.

Deputies are still looking for a second suspect, Clayton said. They did not describe the suspect.
