Carter's Corner: Latest headlines for #UFvsTENN

The Florida-Tennessee game has generated a lot of headlines this week. A look at the latest prior to the 3:30 p.m. kickoff at Neyland Stadium.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- There have been bigger Florida-Tennessee games over the years.

29426Remember, this rivalry was considered among the best in college football in the 1990s when the Head Ball Coach was slinging verbal jabs at Rocky Top and Peyton Manning came back for his senior season still in search of a victory over the Gators.

Manning went 0-4 and Gators fans have reminded him of that regularly for two decades.

But in the social media age we now live in, this feels like the biggest Gators-Vols matchup in history. Saturday's SEC East showdown at Neyland Stadium marks the first time the schools are ranked and unbeaten entering their annual meeting since 2012.

The Gators won 37-20 to keep the streak intact. Florida's winning streak over the Vols is now at 11.

The Gators are confident they will stretch that streak to 12 today. The Volunteers -- at least those who do their playing on social media -- are certain this is the year the Vols finally win.

Before heading over to the stadium here shortly, here are a few last-minute links to get you ready for a Saturday afternoon I've been looking forward to for months:

--Gators cornerback Jalen Tabor wants the Vols to come after him writes Mark Long of the Associated Press via Tennessean.com.

--The Gators are wearing all-white uniforms and a white helmet, which Andy Hutchins of AlligatorArmy.com takes closer look at.

--Why the Vols know Gators quarterback Austin Appleby so well via Mike Strange of USA Today Sports Network.

--Florida's 11-game win streak over Vols a result of decisive moments via Knoxville News-Sentinel columnist John Adams.

--If Gators win a 12th consecutive game over Vols, Rocky Top will melt into Tennessee River writes Mike Bianchi of the Orlando Sentinel.
