NovaBay Pharmaceuticals announced the introduction of a new eye care product, i-Lid Cleanser (hypochlorous acid cleansing solution) for patients with irritation of their eyelids at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery meeting. The product cleans eyelids and lashes by removing debris and microorganisms that often lead to vision problems.

More than 33% of patients who visit an ophthalmologist or optometrist report having a condition related to the inflammation of the eyelid. In most cases, doctors recommend using warm compresses and mild soap to clean the lid and lash margin. However, in some individuals this may become a chronic issue, necessitating the use of antibiotics and topical steroids. Successful treatment usually requires cleaning the lids and lashes several times a day, which contributes to the chronic inflammation and irritation.
