Four deserving Sallie Mae customers will join New Orleans’ own Dee-1, the former middle school teacher turned hip-hop artist, for a special announcement and luncheon on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 11:30 a.m. CST at Calcasieu. The announcement will recognize the winners of Sallie Mae’s and Dee-1’s “Pays to Repay” contest, which rewarded customers who creatively described how paying for college had a positive effect on their future.

WHAT:

Dee-1 and Sallie Mae representatives will host a luncheon to announce the winners of Dee-1’s “Pays to Repay” contest. Each will have their Sallie Mae student loan paid off by the company.

 
Interview and photo opportunities will be available with Dee-1, Sallie Mae representatives, and the contest winners.

In addition to Dee-1's “Pays to Repay” contest, Sallie Mae and Dee-1 recently partnered for “Dee-1’s Knowledge for College” Tour, which awarded $95,000 in scholarships to high school students in five states. Together, Sallie Mae and Dee-1 have awarded more than $130,000 in scholarships and loan payments to students and customers across the country.
