Former governor Jeb Bush is resigning from the board of directors of Rayonier Inc. on December 31, according to an SEC filing from the company.

The announcement comes two weeks after Bush announced that he is considering a campaign for president in 2016 and will be setting up a political action committee in January. Bush's decision is not the result of disagreements between him and Rayonier, a Jacksonville-based real estate investment trust, according to the SEC filing.

On December 24, Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare Corporation announced that Bush was resigning from its board of directors on December 31. Bush also plans to leave a consulting position at Barclays Bank, according to Associated Press reports.

Bush, who was governor of Florida from 1999 to 2007, has served on the Rayonier's board since 2008, according to a proxy statement from the company. In 2013, he made almost $200,000 in that position, and he owns about 11,000 shares in the company. His salary has gone up over the years, rising from $141,000 in 2009.

At Tenet Healthcare, Bush earned almost $300,000 in 2013, when he owned about 59,000 shares in the company.

Bush is also president of Jeb Bush and Associates, a consulting firm, which he set up after leaving the governor's office.

Before becoming governor, Bush worked as a real estate executive from 1981 to 1998. From 1987 to 1988, he was Florida's secretary of commerce.
