Roma Gandhi, a freshman at the Harker School, and Niyaza Mammootty, a senior at Lynbrook High, both in San Jose, have each won a $20,000 scholarship from the H&R Block Budget Challenge.
The two were among five winners in the challenge, which involves taking a teacher-tested online simulation that replicates real-world budgeting and financial decision-making. More than 180,000 students participated in the program.
