Dixon-Hayek Wedding Announcement

Meredith Lee Hayek and Andrew Phifer Dixon were married on May 23, 2015, at three o’clock in the afternoon at First Baptist Church in Shelby. Reverend Charles Freeman, officiant and relative of the groom, and Reverend Tony Tench performed the ceremony. Scripture was read by Reverend Carol Ann Hoard. A reception followed at the LeGrand Center hosted by the bride’s parents.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Charles Sigman Hayek. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Hartgrove of Greensboro, NC, the late Doris Johnson Hartgrove, and the late Dr. and Mrs. Dean Hayek of Greenville, NC. A 2009 graduate of Shelby High School, Meredith earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from East Carolina University. She will be working as a pediatric physical therapist in Gastonia, NC.

The groom, son of Dr. and Mrs. Richard Choice Dixon, is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Meredith Davison of Kings Mountain, NC and the late Mr. and Mrs. Basil Dixon of Shelby. Also a 2009 graduate of Shelby High School, Andrew graduated from North Carolina State University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He is employed as an auditor by Grant Thornton, LLP in Charlotte, NC.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore an asymmetrical pleated silk dupion mermaid gown accented with a diamond and pearl beaded belt as well as beaded buttons cascading to the end of the chapel length train. Megan Price served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Lindsey Hayek, sister-in-law of the bride, and Susan Webb, Rebecca Kretchman, Chelsea DiMartino, Whitney Smith, and Megan Culler, friends of the bride. Keri Price, Allie Pitcher, Keeley Benfield, and Meredith Benfield served as program and guestbook attendants.

The best man was Dr. Richard Dixon, father of the groom. Groomsmen were Charles Dixon, brother of the groom, Andrew Hayek, brother of the bride, Luke Hayek, brother of the bride, and Cameron Stroup, Matthew McCarter, and Mason McCarter, friends of the groom.

The groom’s parents hosted the rehearsal dinner at the Don Gibson Theatre. Meredith and Andrew were honored with a couple’s shower, a tool shower, a bridal shower, and a bridal luncheon given by various family friends during their yearlong engagement.

Following a honeymoon in Jamaica, the newlyweds reside in Pineville, NC.
