Woman rights activist Trupti Desai thrashes a man for breaking marriage promise (Watch Video)

New Delhi, July 27: President of the Bhumata Brigade, Trupti Desai was seen assaulting a man in Pune, Maharashtra on Wednesday for allegedly refusing to marry the woman he was having an affair with. The women’s activist organisation that fights for women rights and combat injustice against them is infamous for the bold moves of its activists.

The video shows Desai beating a man with her slippers while a crowd of onlookers gathers around her. She was beating up the man identified as Srikant Londhe at the Pune-Ahmednagar road near Shirwal. Some other men and a woman, who could be her colleagues are seen assisting her in the video.

According to Zee news, Londhe and woman were in a sexual relationship. Londhe has promised to marry the woman, but after she became pregnant he changed his mind. The two worked at a manufacturing firm, Jabil Circuit India where Shrikant was an engineer and the woman worked as a helper, a report by the Hindu said.

“When the girl bought her case to us, we immediately called up the boy’s father. His family further refused to accept the girl on grounds of caste, stating vaguely that the girl would be paid money to recompense her. It was then we decided the boy should be taught a lesson,” Desai told the newspaper.

Desai has previously made headlines by entering places of worship where women aren’t allowed. She entered the Kapaleshwar temple and Haji Ali Mosque in May.
