Presto and Netflix promote august August 2015 content

By

An august selection of content is coming to Presto and Netflix in the month of August, giving fans of either service a sweet selection of shows.

Before we get there, however, Presto announced the availability of haunting period drama Penny Dreadful on its SVOD service earlier this month, starring Timothy Dalton as Sir Malcolm Murray dealing with the likes of Frankenstein, Dorian Gray and others, with all eight episodes of Season One available now.

Aside from Bond alumni Dalton, former Bond-girl Eva Green is also a cast member, with Rory Kinnear from Bond’s Skyfall also talking part, as well as Billie Piper of Doctor Who fame, alongside Reee Carney and Helen McCrory who both starred in Harry Potter.

That along with a series of other zombie, vampire and horror-themed content is available now on Presto, but what about that August selection?

Presto in August

Presto will feature A Place to Call Home seasons 1 and 2 on 21 August in an SVOD exclusive.

Also arriving is Glee Season 5 from 2 August.

Louis C.K. adds season 4 to its line-up from 19 August.

Then ‘The Affair’ will start on 10 August, a show that was the winner of the 72nd Golden Globe Award for Best TV Drama

The aforementioned vampires and zombies content also includes ghosts and werewolves, with The Walking Dead, Trueblood and Carnivale as Presto exclusives, alongside, American Horror Story, Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Haven, Roswell and The X-Files.

In the ‘Thoughtful, Engrossing Adult Drama’ category, Presto exclusives include Six Feet Under, Big Love, Angels of America, Empire Falls, Grey Gardens and Mildred Pierce.

Non-exclusive content includes The Americans, The Slap and Rectify.

The ‘Behind the Camera’ category includes 21 Years: Richard Linklater, Not Quite Hollywood, After Porn Ends, Joan Rivers – A Piece of Work, The Real History of Science Fiction and Annie Liebovitz – Life Through a Lens.

Modern Australian TV Classics include Wentworth, Love My Way, The Devil’s Playground, Rake, Tangle and Summer Heights High.

Presto Movies and Presto Entertainment subscribers will also get a stack of new movies in August, including The Boxtrolls, Crazy, Stupid, Love and Pixar classics A Bug’s Life and Monsters Inc.

Netflix in August

On the Netflix side of the SVOD fence is also a stack of content.

These include new Netflix originals Club be Cuervos Season 1, starting 7 August, Demetri Martin Live from 14 August and Narcos from 28 August.

New Netflix content for kids includes Project MC2 from 7 August, Ever After High: Way Too Wonderland from 14 August and Dinotrux, also from 14 August.

New tales of American suburbia include American Beauty, Forrest Gump and Nashville Season 2, all from 31 August.

Content about Doctors, as such, includes ‘A Young Doctor’s Notebook’ and completely separately, Doctor Who Season 8, both from 31 August.

Inspiration for Success can be found in the movie Hoop Dreams, available now, Motivation 2: The Chris Cole Story from 6 August and Living on One Dollar from 31 August.

Mind boggling theories are ready to boggle your mind with the Da Vinci Code available now, and both Minority Report and Zodiac from 31 August.

Harry Potter fans can also be Happy Potter fans with Harry’s Chamber of Secrets and Philopsopher’s Stone available now, and then Prisoner of Abakan and Goblet of Fire both available from 31 August.

Netflix is also wishing ‘Happy Birthday to Aussie Hunks’ with A Perfect Getaway, Clash of the Titans and Wrath of the Titans all available now.

The people at Stan don’t think it’s important to email me with content coming up so I’ve no idea what Stan is offering in August, but now you know what Presto and Netflix have in store at your televisual SVOD door!
