General Dynamics Awarded R&D Work to Develop IFV Prototype for Spain


general dynamics logoTYSONS CORNER, VA August 25, 2015 — ExecutiveBiz reported Monday on General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) being awarded a $99 million R&D contract to built a prototype for Spain’s infantry fighting vehicle program.

The 8×8 IFV prototype will be based on the company’s Piranha Class 5 wheeled armored combat vehicle and manufactured at the factories of General Dynamics European Land Systems’ Spanish subsidiary, Santa Barbara Sistemas, Defense News said.

According to the publication, the Spanish Council of Ministers will determine the winner of the final contract for 400 IFV units in the coming weeks.
