Orange County deputies have identified the man who was killed and another man who was injured in a deadly shooting at the Florida Mall Friday night.

Andrew Garland, 20, was killed.

Samuel Destin, 19, was in critical condition Saturday.

He was found lying in the parking lot around 7:20 p.m. outside the J.C. Penney department store with a gunshot wound.

A shopper who saw the man on the ground called 911 and when deputies responded they found Garland had been shot to death near a vehicle about 100 yards away from the store’s entrance.

Destin is being treated at Orlando Regional Medical Center. Deputies think he was shot in or near the vehicle and ran toward the store for help.

The shooting happened in the mall parking lot at the west entrance of the store, according to deputies. Deputies say no one reported any shots fired at the time of the incident.

Deputies are still investigating and said Friday they were trying to determine if the shooting involved just the two men or if there were other suspects. Deputies were also reviewing surveillance footage to determine what happened.

The mall located on Orange Blossom Trail was open at the time of the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimeline at 1-800-422-8477.
