While the GoPro product line has definitely captured the attention (and wallets) of the more adventurous type of mobile videographers, one problem that users have been facing is editing and sharing the videos without having to transfer it to a computer or laptop. The company president, Tony Bates, confirmed that they are actually this close to launching an app that will solve those problems and they plan to launch it by the end of the summer.

Currently, what GoPro users have to do is a laborious process involving “convoluted” video editing software, and transferring files to the desktop. But when you’re constantly on the go, and you don’t have time to move huge files, and you need to share something quickly, mobile apps are really the best option for these kinds of situations.

For now, the soon-to-be-launched app will be the most practical way of mobile editing, but Bates did mention that eventually, they are also looking at a cloud-based service that users can use to view their Go Pro footage on other mobile devices. Of course the ideal scenario would be the ability to also edit or trim down and put together videos on that cloud as well, but for now, we have to wait and see what the upcoming app is capable of doing.

GoPro experienced a 72% increase in revenue for its second quarter this year and released a a new entry level product called Hero+LCD. As its user base continues to grow, they would need to come up with more mobile solutions to keep their users happy and to get more GoPro converts as well.
