Toronto, Canada-based 9 Story Media Group has joined forces with Netflix and Scholastic as a producer on the rebooted version of the 1990s animated children’s series The Magic School Bus, which will bow on the SVOD as a Netflix Original Series next fall.

The new series, announced in June 2014, will bring the show’s original producer Vince Commisso, currently 9 Story’s president and CEO, back into the fold.  The series debuted on PBS in 1994 and was based on the bestselling book series of the same name from Scholastic by Joanna Cole and Bruce Degen. The Magic School Bus taught kids science through the adventures of the inspiring teacher Ms. Frizzle, her inquisitive class and their magical bus that made adventures into the unknown completely possible.

The Magic School Bus is the latest classic series to be rebooted by 9 Story. In October, the company inked a long-term partnership with HIT Entertainment to relaunch the Barney & Friends and Angelina Ballerina preschool brands. Development of those IPs has already begun, with a 2017 target launch date for new 52 x 11- minute series for each property.
