Part of the glass front door of Dollar Tree on Main Street is gone after a driver inadvertently ran into it Friday, June 22, 2018.

LAS CRUCES - A driver crashed Friday afternoon into a Dollar Tree store on North Main Street in Las Cruces.

A 27-year-old woman was attempting to pull her car out of a parking space in front of the store, 2190 N. Main St., according to the Las Cruces Police Department.  As she attempted to look toward the rear of the vehicle, she placed her hand on the back of the passenger seat and inadvertently struck the gear shift into drive.

Jason Sauceda, an LCPD spokesman, said the driver then panicked and hit the gas instead of the brake, driving the car into the front of the store.

Neither alcohol nor drugs is believed to be a factor in the crash.

No one was injured, according to LCPD.

This is the second time a driver has crashed through the front of this Dollar Tree. In September 2014, a 52-year-old Organ, N.M., man attempting to reverse from a parking spot instead went forward and crashed into the store, sending a 58-year-old woman to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
