Singer-songwriter Jon Christopher Davis brings his “Lone Star Attitude” to the Summer Music Series at The Shops at Lakeside DFW in Flower Mound on Friday night.

The Dallas native has written songs for Dolly Parton, Hal Ketchum, Timothy B. Schmit of the Eagles, Billy Ray Cyrus, Sherrie Austin, Rodney Atkins, and Tammy Cochran.

“Little Bird,” recorded by Sherrie Austin, peaked at number 4 on Billboard’s Top Country Singles Sales Chart.

Many of his heartland-country-rock songs have been licensed for television.

After a decade as a staff writer in Nashville, Davis returned to Texas with a bang.

For his first gig back in Texas at the famed Greune Hall in New Braunels, Davis wrote a dance number he dubbed, “Lone Star Attitude.”

To his surprise, the crowd that night demanded he play it twice.

He then made up some T-shirts with those three magic words. They sold out. He trademarked “Lone Star Attitude” and before long Davis was selling them at DFW Airport from a store named (you guessed it) “Lone Star Attitude.”

In addition to his life as an entrepreneur (which also includes the LSA Burger Co. in Denton and the Dallas corporate event band, Lone Star Attitude), Davis continues to write and play.

JCD has shared the concert stage with Jack Ingram, Radney Foster, Rodney Crowell, Lyle Lovett, Hal Ketchum, Joe Ely, Poco, Pure Prairie League, Restless Heart, Michael McDonald, Eddie Money, Train, Daughtry, The Roots (Jimmy Fallon’s house band), Uncle Kracker, Kansas, REO Speedwagon and many others. He’s also performed twice for the President of the United States.

“It’s as if Don Henley, Elvis Presley and the Everly Brothers met late one night at a Texas Roadhouse parking lot,” said Stan Lynch, from Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, “and beat the crap out of each other.

“What came out was Jon Christopher Davis. He’s brains, hips and harmonies.”

See Jon Christopher Davis at the plaza in Lakeside, 2314 Lakeside Parkway in Flower Mound, Friday night.
