French air crash investigators have met with Malaysian officials to co-ordinate the probe into missing flight MH370.

The fresh impetus is a result of a plane part, thought to belong to a Boeing 777, that washed up on French-governed Reunion in the Indian Ocean.

An Australian led hunt for the missing aircraft has been scouring the southern Indian Ocean some 4,000 km east of Reunion.

The huge hi-tech search for the Boeing 777, that went missing in March last year, has so far found nothing.

Investigators can only say with certainty that the plane flew off course before crashing into the sea.
