The Embassy of India in Washington, DC, has organized a visa camp and interaction with the Indian community at Windsor Mill in Baltimore, Maryland, on August 29. The objective was to provide easy, efficient and quality consular services to the applicants of the community, according to a press release from the embassy.
During the daylong camp, Cox and Kings Global Services (CKGS), a private contractor for the embassy and Indian consulates in the United States, processed about 150 applications for Indian visas, OCI cards and citizenship renunciation certificates, from the applicants from Baltimore and adjoining areas.
During an interaction with Indian Americans, Prasanna Shrivastava, First Secretary (Consular) at the embassy, apprised them of the recent initiatives taken by the embassy for providing efficient and predictable consular services to the applicants. The members of the community welcomed the initiative, the release said.
The camp was organized through CKGS, with the support from ISKCON Baltimore and Baltimore Fest. It was also supported by Maryland India Business Roundtable, India Samaj Baltimore, Shreyas Panchigar Foundation, Gujarati Samaj of Metropolitan Washington, Sikh Association of Baltimore, Guru Nanak Foundation of America, Capitol Area Telugu Society and American Telugu Association, Baltimore.
Shrivastava and Dr. Neeraj Verma of ISKCON Baltimore inaugurated the camp. Community leaders present included Amrish Patel of AB Consultants, Elisha Pulivarthi of MIBRT, Shreyas Panchigar of Shreyas Panchigar Foundation, and Shyam Pandey and Shalini Sood of Baltimore Fest.
