Wednesday Sector Laggards: Energy, Services

In afternoon trading on Wednesday, Energy stocks are the worst performing sector, showing a 0.4% loss. Within the sector, Transocean Ltd (NYSE: RIG) and Helmerich & Payne, Inc. (NYSE: HP) are two large stocks that are lagging, showing a loss of 1.9% and 1.8%, respectively. Among energy ETFs, one ETF following the sector is the Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (AMEX: XLE), which is down 0.4% on the day, and down 1.06% year-to-date. Transocean Ltd, meanwhile, is up 3.73% year-to-date, and Helmerich & Payne, Inc. is up 1.27% year-to-date. Combined, RIG and HP make up approximately 1.0% of the underlying holdings of XLE.

The next worst performing sector is the Services sector, showing a 0.3% loss. Among large Services stocks, Target Corp (NYSE: TGT) and Dollar Tree Inc (NASD: DLTR) are the most notable, showing a loss of 6.2% and 3.3%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Services stocks is the iShares U.S. Consumer Services ETF (IYC), which is down 0.3% in midday trading, and up 2.52% on a year-to-date basis. Target Corp, meanwhile, is down 7.82% year-to-date, and Dollar Tree Inc, is down 0.35% year-to-date. Combined, TGT and DLTR make up approximately 1.9% of the underlying holdings of IYC.
